Eagles need to fly together in 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles will need a healthy team if they want to compete in the tough NFC East. Last Year the Eagles finished a respectable 8-8 but failed to make the playoffs and that is something that doesn’t sit well for the city of brotherly love.  With so many injuries plaguing the Eagles in 2007, they need to remain healthy and not struggle at key positions due to injuries. It has to start with the Donovan McNabb who has struggled to play a full season in what seems like forever. Early reports say he is fine and ready for the year but we have heard that before. Other key players that need to stay on the field are tight end L.J. Smith, RB Brian Westbrook and of course the offensive line.  The defense needs leader Brian Dawkins healthy because along with Asante Samuel the Philadelphia secondary can really make some noise. Of course they are simply things that every NFL franchise needs in order to compete but the Eagles are too good of a team to finish mediocre and a healthy 2008 squad can make for another run at the beloved Super Bowl.

Paul Spicer signs two year extension contract with Jaguars

There is all possibility that defensive end Paul Spicer will end his NFL career as a Jacksonville Jaguar player, as he has extended his contract with the Jaguars for a period of two years. The two parties mutually agreed on an $8 million contract and 33 year old Spicer was also very keen in staying with the Jaguars team. Paul Spicer is one of the best defensive ends to have played for the jaguars and the fans are hoping that he repeats the same performance that he had displayed last season where he had 7 ½ sacks. The Jaguar fans will be rushing to buy their tickets to watch their favorite defensive end in action.

New York Giants on a signing spree

Three draft choices quarterback Andre Woodson, linebackers Jonathan Goff and Bryan Kehl were signed by the New York Giants on Tuesday. Since quarterback Jared Lorenzen was waived off by the Giants last Monday, there is all possibility that Woodson would replace him in the team for the upcoming season. The former University of Kentucky player, Woodson, is also aware of the same and is waiting for the yes from the team management. Woodson is confident that he can easily fit into the Giants thick of things and is raring to make an impression on the coaching staff once he gets his foot on the Giants ground. The Giants fans will be buying tickets for the games to watch these new players show their best talent in the upcoming NFL season.

Giants sign defensive end Robert Henderson

NFL employs Ernie Accorsi as co-chairman of General Managers Committee

The former General Manager of the New York Giants team Ernie Accorsi has accepted the job of the consultant in NFL, football’s governing body, and will be co-chairing the general managers’ advisory committee along with Roy Anderson, the executive Vice President. Ernie Accorsi’s job will be to interact with senior people from each football club on certain rules and policies that the clubs have to adhere from time to time, so the job is basically to create a good rapport with the organizing body and the clubs. He has now started practicing with his Raiders teammates in his normal receiver’s position. Curry said that he did not rush up with things after his surgery and gave ample time for his foot to recover. Giants’ defensive end Strahan retires

Michael Strahan, the New York Giants defensive end, has bid adieu to the NFL after being associated with it as a player for 15 seasons. Strahan in his final news conference said that it was the right time for him to quit the game and thanked the Giants fans as well as his teammates for the excellent support they have given him over the years. He was happy that he is ending his career after seeing his team through to the Super Bowl title in 2007. The Giants’ fans buying tickets to watch their best team compete in the upcoming season will be saddened that they will not be able to see Michael Strahan in the Giants uniform anymore.
