Aloha Stadium where they were greeted with a lot of boos as they were introduced. There was no mistaking the cold treatment they received from the crowd of 50,044. The Patriots who went there were nose tackle Vince Wilfork, cornerback Asante Samuel, center Dan Koppen, guard Logan Mankins, linebacker Mike Vrabel and tackle Matt Light. Six New England Patriots went to Honolulu last Feb 10 for a Pro Bowl sauna at the Their coming out on the field, which was announced with fireworks, were met with negative reactions from the audience.
This cold reception may have been caused by the controversial Spygate issue, in which the Patriots are being accused of videotaping their opponents’ signals and doing it for years. The six Patriots had their own reactions regarding the Honolulu incident as well. Vrabel put the blame on the media for influencing the minds of the people about them. Light was surprised at the audience’s reaction. Wilfork remarked that he had no idea what the booing was about. He added that people hate those who are at the top, and that he and his teammates thought it was funny.
This is a trying time for the Patriots, who lost to the New York Giants 17-14 at the Super Bowl last Feb 3, and are now being plagued with the Spygate controversy.
