Chargers looking forward to playing in London

San Diego Chargers President Dean Spanos is excited about the prospect of his team playing in the second regular season outside of North America and is eagerly looking forward to meeting the Saints at the Wembley Stadium in London on October 26th 2008. He said that this is a great opportunity to showcase the most happening sport in America, to the entire world and is a step taken forward in an attempt to globalize the game. Spanos was of the opinion that it is the perfect platform for the Chargers to gain international fan base and is a great opportunity for the NFL to showcase its two teams.

The Charger players are all very excited of playing a football match at an international venue and are all looking forward to visiting the beautiful sights across London. The match between the Chargers and the Saints will be the third match that the NFGL is contesting on foreign soil. The first match was played between Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers in 2005 and the second one last season between the Giants and the Dolphins at the famous international venue, Wembley Stadium, London. The trip by the Chargers to the international venue will be the longest regular season trip in the history of NFL.
