Chad Pennington who was let off by the New York Jets after the signing of Favre has now been signed by Miami Dolphins for a 2 year deal. An insider reported that the deal was worth $11.5 million, though the Dolphins have not announced it publically yet. Chad Pennington struggled last season with the Jets going 1-7 as starter and was benched from week 8 onwards. Pennington said that he had no regrets about what had happened to him at New York and has grown as both a player and human being at his 8 year stint at NY. The only thing disheartening was that that he was no longer required by the team that he had served for so long.

The most important and in form wide receiver of the Carolina Panthers team, Steve Smith, has got only his short temper to blame, as he was kicked out of the training camp on Friday after he had punched his teammate Ken Lucas close to his left eye. The reason for the brawl between Smith and Lucas is unclear, but the Panthers management has decided to take a call on this issue and will deal the matter internally. The fight was picked up at the side lines during the special drills session and it got worse when the players took the field. The tickets to most of the Panthers games are sold out and Smith’s fans hope to their best wide receiver from the first game of the NFL season.
The defensive end of the Philadelphia Eagles ! Chris Clemons had to spend last Tuesday in hospital as he suffered from severe heat related dehydration. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance from the Eagles practice field in the morning. Clemons was taken off the practice field on Tuesday morning and was administered intravenous fluids. But as he did not respond, he was taken to the hospital. The temperatures are on the rise in Pennsylvania and recorded about 80 last Tuesday. Clemons after his brief stint in the hospital has returned to the training camp. The Eagles fans, who had already bought the tickets for the new season, are expecting this NFL season to be one of the best in the recent years.

The Green Bay Packers are finding it tough to deal with free agent Ryan Grant, who is knocking at the door steps of the Packers, for a longer deal. There has been lot of negotiations and discussions going on between the Grant’s camp and the Green Bay Packers top brass, but so far nothing conclusive has emerged out from these discussions. Packers are determined to have Ryan Grant in their team for the next season. Ryan is also interested in representing the Packers for the upcoming season, but is not satisfied with the money they are offering for striking the deal. There is no doubt that the Packers fans will be purchasing tickets to watch the games, despite all the controversies that are doing rounds in the Packers camp now.

Reportedly, WR Chad Johnson has informed the press that he will take his time after the June 18 arthroscopic ankle surgery. He can already run in a line, but is said to be holding back on doing cutting and routes to give his ankle some rest and not cause permanent damage. He will however, be available for training which starts July 28. “This is a Marathon, not a sprint.”, says Johnson.

The Philadelphia Eagles will need a healthy team if they want to compete in the tough NFC East. Last Year the Eagles finished a respectable 8-8 but failed to make the playoffs and that is something that doesn’t sit well for the city of brotherly love. With so many injuries plaguing the Eagles in 2007, they need to remain healthy and not struggle at key positions due to injuries. It has to start with the Donovan McNabb who has struggled to play a full season in what seems like forever. Early reports say he is fine and ready for the year but we have heard that before. Other key players that need to stay on the field are tight end L.J. Smith, RB Brian Westbrook and of course the offensive line. The defense needs leader Brian Dawkins healthy because along with Asante Samuel the Philadelphia secondary can really make some noise. Of course they are simply things that every NFL franchise needs in order to compete but the Eagles are too good of a team to finish mediocre and a healthy 2008 squad can make for another run at the beloved Super Bowl.
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver is reporting that the team will not be moving anywhere and are not for sale. There were talks of negotiations being made between Weaver and billionaire C. Dean Metropoulos as the team could possibly be moved to Los Angeles. Weaver said that the team will stay put in Jacksonville and although he cannot determine the future he is putting his foot down by saying the Jaguars will be from Jacksonville as far as he can see. The team has faced some financial debt and the possibility of bringing invenstors in has been talked about. Jacksonville Jaguars fans are thrilled because they sure do love their team and would hate the fact to spend their Sundays watching them play in another state.
